Derby County centre-back deal seems set to be confirmed – quotes and picture emerge

Nigerian international defender Efe Ambrose seems to be on the brink of completing a move to Championship side Derby County after a picture of the defender in a Derby shirt emerged.

Nigerian defender Efe Ambrose is set to be confirmed as a Derby County player, after he told Score Nigeria that he ahs signed a short-term deal with the club.

Speaking to Score Nigeria, Ambrose has seemingly confirmed that he has signed for Derby County, despite there not being a formal announcement from the club yet.

“I signed a short term deal with Derby County that runs till the summer,” Ambrose said.

“I am delighted to join this ambitious club. I am honoured and it is a privilege to play under a legend like Frank Lampard.”

He went on to add that he hopes to play an important part for the team as they look to win promotion to the Premier League.

“The club’s target is to get the automatic promotion or playoff spot, which I pray that I could be able to play a big part of that by helping them achieve this by God’s grace,” he said.

The report from Score Nigeria also contained a picture of him in the club shirt, supporting his quotes stating that he has now joined the club officially.

The defender has been training with Derby recently, and will seemingly come in to provide some much-needed cover for Richard Keogh and Fikayo Tomori. The duo are the club’s only available centre-backs with Curtis Davies out for the season and Alex Pearce on loan with fellow Championship side Millwall.
