Frank Lampard provides injury update on host of Derby County players

Derby County manager Frank Lampard has provided an injury update on midfielders Mason Mount and Tom Lawrence.

Derby County boss Frank Lampard has said that Chelsea loanee Mason Mount is expected to miss out on their midweek clash with Millwall, while Tom Lawrence is also a doubt after picking up knocks against Ipswich Town.

20-year-old Mount has not featured for Derby since their FA Cup victory over League One side Accrington Stanley, missing four games. The midfielder returned to training on Monday afternoon, but it is unlikely that he will make the squad for their important game against Millwall on Wednesday night.

“I think it (Millwall) is too early for Mason,” Lampard told the Derby Telegraph.

“We have to be careful with him because muscle injuries are difficult. We have to manage him back into the squad in the right way. I think it will be a process with the important games we have got coming up. A case of day by day.”

The Derby boss went on to provide updates on both Tom Lawrence and Jack Marriott. Lawrence is a doubt for Wednesday’s game, but it is expected that Marriott will be in the squad once again after he returned against Brighton at the weekend.

“Tom has some issues from the Ipswich game and it will be touch and go. He is still in contention.

“It was good for Jack to get minutes at the weekend,” Lampard said.

The report added that goalkeeper Scott Carson will be out for Wednesday’s game as a thigh problem continues to keep him out of the first team picture, meaning Kelle Roos is set for another start in between the sticks.
