Defender Webber Joins Wigan
Monday, 12th Aug 2019 15:28

Young Blues defender Pat Webber has joined Wigan Athletic on a two-year permanent deal having spent time on trial with the Latics in January.

As TWTD previously reported, the Lancastrians and Millwall, where the 20-year-old also spent time on trial in January, were both keen to sign him towards the end of last season but at the time the Blues were loath to allow him to depart.

Although there is no fee, it's understood Town would receive cash if he progresses into the first team. Initially, Webber is viewed as an U23s player with his move having gone through prior to Thursday's Championship deadline.

Webber, whose father Damien played for Millwall under ex-Blues boss Mick McCarthy, signed for the Town academy from Worthing in 2016 after a trial.

The centre-half or left-back’s only senior appearance came in the Carabao Cup defeat to Crystal Palace in August 2017. While with the Blues he also spent spells on loan with Braintree.

Do we get a sell-on when he is sold for £25m?

We obviously have had a well qualified scouting set up ,good at selecting personnel for trials and potential .Yet another who we hope will have benefited from time at ITFC.

Good enough for 2nd tier Wigan, but not for Town? I suppose he is thought of as behind Woolfenden so he won't get much game time here. Are we getting a fee; if not, why did we bother triggering his 1 year extension in the summer?

Fans should be wound up by the fact we were whipping boys last season, a total laughing stock and are playing in league 1 thanks to Evans, not by me!!

Bluearmy - who exactly do you think you are ?
You're one person . You have an opinion , that's fine . If people don't share it , it doesn't make them A) less of a fan or B) wrong .

@Dozzells Bobblehat

Bluearmy is a normal person with a different opinion to the majority on this site.

Caring for the club and seeing Evans for what he is, is not a crime.

disappointed when he left as thought he was nailed on to partner Woolfy. Maybe he was behind Ndaba and if so that's a better balance. Good luck anyway.

Blue conscience - exactly my point!!!
He's more than entitled to his opinion. He could even be proved right.
However, if anyone disagrees with him he labels them as
Stupid, unambitious, less of a fan than him etc etc etc . That's my issue with him , not his actual opinion.

Bit of a strange one this not considered good enough to be any where near the first team squad but good enough to impress Wigan nothing surprises me now at our club probably take someone on loan from the Vauxhall conference.
