Lincoln City boss to hold talks with ex-Swansea City and Doncaster Rovers defender

Lincoln City boss Michael Appleton will hold talks with Aaron Lewis over his future at Sincil Bank.

The 21-year-old signed on a short-term contract under Danny Cowley and his successor will discuss his situation, according to a report by Lincolnshire Live.

Lewis, who is a Wales Under-21 international, is currently playing for the Imps for free just for the opportunity to play for them.

The young right-back rose up through the youth ranks at Swansea City but never made a senior appearance for the Welsh side. He was loaned out to League One side Doncaster Rovers for the second-half of last season and gained his first taste of first team experience with them.

Lewis was released by the Swans in July and joined Lincoln in August. He has since played three games for the Imps.

Appleton, who replaced Cowley when he left for Huddersfield last month, has spoken about Lewis’ future, as per Lincolnshire Live: “Obviously, Eards [Neal Eardley] is very reliable and experienced, but we know we’ve got decent back-up with Aaron. When he [Lewis] comes back [from international duty] we will have a conversation to help him feel a little more comfortable with the situation.”

“As it stands, nothing can happen in terms of him moving on. But I’ve said I’ll have a chat with him to see if we can make things a little more comfortable.”
